The Riverhounds will have another Jamaican international player on the roster for the upcoming 2016 United Soccer League season.
Defender Sergio Campbell, 24, trained with the team Monday at Highmark Stadium and will officially join the roster once the Riverhounds receive clearance to sign him. He joins Jamaican forward Romeo Parkes, who signed last week.
Campbell played in college at Central Arkansas and Connecticut before Columbus Crew SC drafted him in the first round (19th overall) of the 2015 MLS SuperDraft. He made only one MLS appearance and played twice for the USL's Austin Aztex on loan. He has also played twice for the Jamaican national team along with his uncle, Rodolph Austin, who is the squad's captain.
The Riverhounds will also soon sign another Pittsburgh native to the team in former Central Catholic and Robert Morris goalkeeper Brenden Alfery, 21. He will be the third choice behind Hunter Gilstrap and Mauricio Vargas. Midfielder Nick Kolarac is also from Pittsburgh and attended West Allegheny.
