Yoslan Herrera will start for the Pirates tomorrow night in place of Phil Dumatrait, who's back on the disabled list.
Dumatrait, who'd been on the disabled list with bursitis in his left shoulder, started last Monday night against Houston. He began feeling discomfort in his side a day later.
"It's not nearly what it was," general manager Neal Huntington said, "but we opted for the ultra-conservative approach.''
Herrera, who defected from Cuba in July, 2005, signed with the Pirates Dec. 18, 2006. This season, he's 5-8 with a 3.11 earned run average in 17 starts for Class AA Altoona. He also won a spot start for Class AAA Indianapolis June 27 against Columbus, allowing two runs in seven innings.
The Pirates also last night optioned right-hander Luis Munoz back to Altoona. He'll start for the Curve tomorrow. And tomorrow they'll activate right-hander Franquelis Osoria from the disabled list.
