Kam Carter, Pitt’s former defensive lineman who made waves nationally for his role in Netflix’s “Last Chance U” documentary series, has found a new home in Pittsburgh.
Carter was announced as a member of Duquesne’s 2018 national signing day class Wednesday. He announced his intent to leave Pitt in early January and joins a Dukes group that includes two WPIAL products and five mid-year Football Bowl Subdivision transfers.
In his lone season at Pitt, Carter tallied 8 tackles, 1.5 tackles for a loss and a fumble recovery in nine games. Duquesne is his fourth stop, as he spent the 2016 season at junior college East Mississippi, and began his collegiate career at Penn State in 2015. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Former Central Valley offensive lineman Eric Neill and Rochester defensive back Mahlik Strozier round out Duquesne’s WPIAL crop. The Dukes previously announced the signings of WPIAL standouts Anthony Dellovade (West Allegheny) and Will Weber (West Allegheny) on Dec. 20.
Robert Morris announced an eight-player recruiting class on Wednesday, the first of new head coach Bernard Clark’s career. The class includes three former WPIAL standouts — former Montour linebacker Brayden Jones, former Penn Hills linebacker Darrell Mason and former Gateway defensive back Arrington Johns.
As of late afternoon Wednesday, Clark indicated that the Colonials are still adding new players.
“We feel good about this class as whole,” Clark said in a news release. “We got some positions we thought we really needed to fill based on conversations with guys that we kept here. We were able to fill in some of our needs. Still have a few things leftover that to look at, but we’re not rushing in to sign guys. We want to make sure to sign the right guys and not just signing players.”
