Jennerstown Speedway won't open, is for sale

JENNERSTOWN, Pa. -- A Somerset County speedway won't open this season and is listed for sale.

Jennerstown Speedway owner Dave Wheeler says he doesn't have the time to run the track and serve as president and CEO of Wheeler Bros. in Somerset.

Mr. Wheeler says he's not sure if he'll reopen the track next year if it doesn't sell. He also says interest in local racing seems to be waning.

The track opened in the late 1920s and Mr. Wheeler purchased it about six years ago. He leased the track last season, but that person left for another job.
