I enjoyed attending Open Streets on Penn Avenue Sunday but was less than thrilled with the cyclists crossing the 16th Street Bridge.
As a pedestrian on a narrow sidewalk, I had no fewer than eight cyclists whiz past me. Not one called out or rang a bell of warning. I couldn’t hear the bikes approaching due to traffic noise on the bridge and from the Veterans Bridge.
I encounter this same lack of courtesy while walking the dog or jogging on the sidewalk or in West Park. Is it too much to ask for a simple warning? Or how about staying on the bike paths and off the sidewalks?
