TRAFFIC: Implosion of old Hulton Bridge scheduled Tuesday

Implosion of old Hulton Bridge to affect Tuesday morning commute

Traffic on the new Hulton Bridge will be stopped around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday for the implosion of the adjacent old bridge.

A 1,000-foot safety zone will be created around the bridge beginning at 7 a.m. Tuesday. The implosion over the Allegheny River will occur around 10 a.m.

The bridge, which connects Oakmont with Harmar, is close to the new bridge and wooden boxes were being built around demolition charges to prevent damage. The contractor also will place geo-textile material on the new bridge, opened Oct. 20, to protect it.
