Obituary: Max Rosenn / Federal appeals judge

Died Feb. 7, 2006

Senior U.S. Circuit Court Judge Max Rosenn has died at the age of 96.

Judge Rosenn died yesterday at a Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, hospital, according to Anthony J. Scirica, the 3rd Circuit's chief judge.

Judge Rosenn was appointed to the bench by President Richard Nixon in 1970 and became a senior judge in 1981.

A graduate of Cornell University and University of Pennsylvania Law School, Judge Rosenn also worked as an assistant district attorney in Wilkes-Barre and served as Pennsylvania's secretary of public welfare.

He was a first lieutenant in the Army from 1944-46.
