New Kensington woman killed, several other people injured in house fire

A woman was killed and several other people were injured in a house fire Sunday in New Kensington, authorities said.

Firefighters responded shortly before 6 p.m. to 911 calls for a fire in the 500 block of Fourth Avenue in New Kensington. Multiple buildings were involved in the fire, according to Westmoreland County emergency dispatchers.

The woman who was killed was identified as Angel A. Gray, 49, of New Kensington, according to the Westmoreland County coroner’s office. Ms. Gray lived in one of the homes that caught fire and was pronounced dead at the scene, the coroner’s office added. 

Several people in unknown conditions were taken to a hospital, the county 911 dispatchers said. 

The Pennsylvania state police fire marshal and New Kensington police are investigating, the coroner’s office said.
