Two people injured in house fire in Monessen

Two people were hospitalized with injuries after being rescued from a house fire in Monessen late Sunday.

The fire was reported at 11:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of State Road, according to Westmoreland County emergency officials.

The conditions of the two victims have not been released.

Fire crews at the scene told Post-Gazette news partner KDKA-TV that a man and woman were trapped in the home; the woman was rescued through a window and the male managed to get out of another window.

The fire marshal is investigating what caused the blaze.
