Two people were killed and two more were seriously injured in a head-on crash Saturday night in Fayette County.
State police at Uniontown are blaming the accident on speed.
At about 10:30 p.m., police said, Derek P. Kemp, 19, of West Leisenring, Fayette County, lost control of his vehicle on Connellsville Street in North Union. Police said he was southbound at a high rate of speed when he "over-compensated a curve", crossed the center line in the 400 block of the street, and struck head-on a vehicle driven by Caitlin J. Vlosich, 24, of Brownsville, Fayette County.
Police said Mr. Kemp and a passenger, Robert A. Walker, 20, of Uniontown, were fatally injured and had to be extricated from the vehicle.
The driver and passenger, James Vlosich, 24, of Brownsville, were described as having serious injuries. They were flown by medical helicopter to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
