Local bereavement support groups

Here is a list of some bereavement support groups in Pittsburgh and the suburbs.

• Compassionate Friends is a specialized support group for people who have experienced the death of a child. For information on the nearest chapter, call 412-835-1105.

• Highmark Caring Place, 620 Stanwix St., Downtown, offers bereavement services for grieving children, adolescents and their families. Call 888-224-4673.

• In Squirrel Hill, Good Grief holds bereavement sessions from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursday of each month and from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of each month. A special session for daughters without mothers is held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. the first and third Thursday of each month.

In Mt. Lebanon and Whitehall, Family Hospice and Palliative Care sponsors these:

• Center for Compassionate Care, 50 Moffett St., Mt. Lebanon, 7 to 8:30 p.m. third Monday of each month.

• Southminster House, 801 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon, 1 to 2:30 p.m. second Tuesday of each month.

Grief Share offers nondenominational, Bible-based grief recovery at numerous locations throughout the Pittsburgh region. They include:
