Spring arrives at 6:45 p.m. on Friday but before it gets here, several counties east of Pittsburgh are expected to get another blast of winter weather.
The National Weather Service posted a winter weather advisory for Somerset, Cambria, Blair and several central Pennsylvania counties, effective from 1 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, with expected snowfall of 3 to 6 inches. The advisory may be extended to the higher elevations of Westmoreland and Fayette counties and to Indiana County later today.
A winter storm watch was in effect in Bedford and Fulton counties, with a possibility of more than 6 inches of snow.
Pittsburghers also may see a few more flakes before the season changes. A mix of rain and snow was forecast overnight into Friday morning before temperatures rise enough to change it to all rain.
Friday's high was expected to be in the mid-40s. The weather service said Saturday will bring sunshine and a high in the mid-50s.
