Victim in head-on crash in Indiana Township dies

A driver was killed and another injured in a head-on crash Monday in Indiana Township.

The crash occurred in the 3800 block of Saxonburg Boulevard around 3:15 p.m. when the driver of a minivan traveling north crossed the center line and struck another minivan that was headed south, according to Allegheny County police.

The driver of the second minivan, Patricia Vernon-Braden, 59, of Cheswick, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the first minivan, identified by police as a woman from Richland, was taken to the hospital with hip and leg injuries.

Police said they will consult with the county district attorney’s office to determine whether charges should be filed.
