Man killed in Clarion County crash on I-80, passenger injured

A Michigan man was killed Monday night when he wrecked into the back of a tractor trailer in Clarion County, state police said.

James Raymond Martin, 26, of Sterling Heights, Mich., was driving on Interstate 80 around 5:30 p.m. when he crashed into the back of a tractor trailer tanker that had stopped before entering a construction zone, police said.

Mr. Martin was flown to a hospital but died on the way there, according to police.

A passenger in his car, Amy Rose Martin, also 26 and from Sterling Heights, suffered a major injury. Police did not provide an update on her condition.

The driver of the tractor trailer, Monique Shields, 43, of Chicago, was not injured.

Police continue to investigate.
