Cheswick man charged in fatal Route 28 crash

A Cheswick man has been charged with homicide by vehicle and other crimes in connection with a fatal crash last February on Route 28 in Sharpsburg.

State police said Jared Schillinger, 29, was drunk when his vehicle struck a car driven by Rikki Fleming, 18, of Etna, at 11:16 p.m. Feb. 16, 2013. Ms. Fleming died in the crash.

Mr. Schillinger also is charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, involuntary manslaughter, drunken driving, careless driving and reckless driving.

Ms. Fleming's estate has filed a notice of intent to sue Mr. Schillinger in Common Pleas Court.
