A man woke up to a cold apartment Monday morning in Penn Hills and found that a car had taken out a chunk of his front wall, according to police.
Police received a call at around 7 a.m. to an apartment complex on Leechburg Road after a man reported his wall had been caved in where his window was. Witnesses said they heard a car crash into the apartment at around 2 a.m.
Officers found the vehicle -- which had pieces of the building in its grill -- nearby on the grounds of the apartment complex.
"Apparently the individual struck the building, backed out and turned around and parked his car across the driveway from it," Penn Hills police Chief Howard Burton said.
The owner of the vehicle, who was staying with his girlfriend at a different apartment, admitted to police he drove the car but didn't remember hitting the building. Chief Burton said the owner will be charged by summons with driving under the influence.
No one was injured.
