Allegheny County will pay $32,000 to one of the victims of a jail guard convicted of official oppression, according to online county documents.
Two female inmates at the Allegheny County Jail accused former jail guard Joshua Reber, 36, of sexually assaulting them in 2015.
They testified that Mr. Reber kissed and fondled them in their single-person cells and in a cleaning supply closet.
Mr. Reber was arrested when he arrived at work in December 2015 and later pleaded guilty to two counts of official oppression. He was sentenced in October 2016 to six to 20 months in jail.
One of Mr. Reber’s victims will receive $32,000 from the county, according to county documents. If was unclear whether the county settled with the other victim.
County spokeswoman Amie Downs said the county does not comment on settlements.
Both victims sued Mr. Reber in Allegheny County Common Pleas Court.
