The Andy Warhol Bridge, closed since August 2016, will reopen Saturday.
The bridge, the middle of the "Three Sisters" bridges that span the Allegheny River and connect Downtown and the North Side, was closed for a $26 million rehabilitation project to replace the deck and make several other structural and cosmetic repairs.
The sidewalk on the side closest to the Point will remain closed through March 2018, according to the county, for utility work.
The bridge is scheduled to reopen at 5 p.m. Saturday following Friday's Light Up Night.
The reopened bridge will have a new traffic pattern -- instead of the previous four lanes, there will now be three with wider shoulders.
The Warhol Bridge, formerly known as the Seventh Street Bridge, is the first of the three, nearly identical Aztec Gold suspension bridges to undergo rehabilitation.
The Rachel Carson Bridge (formerly the Ninth Street Bridge) is scheduled to close in the summer through the winter of 2019. The Roberto Clemente Bridge (Sixth Street) is scheduled for work in the summer of 2020 with completion in the winter of 2021.
The Warhol Bridge opened in 1926. Work performed during its rehabilitation included a new deck; repainting; repairs to structural steel; new lightning; protection of the bridge piers; and replacement of expansion dams and drainage systems.
