A 19-year-old woman was arrested Saturday for allowing her 13-year-old sister to drive a car that ended up crashing into a Highland Park playground, police said.
The crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. near the Highland Park Super Playground on Resevoir Drive.
No one was hurt, but a father had to grab his young child out of a stroller and hurry away from the path of the car, police said. The car hit the stroller and pinned the stroller to a fence.
Pittsburgh police charged Mariamo Mada with recklessly endangering another person and endangering the welfare of a child for allowing her younger sister to drive the car.
Police said the girl was driving the car when she wrecked into the edge of the park’s play area.
A wooden fence and a bicycle rack were damaged in the crash. The car also struck another vehicle, according to police.
Police said Ms. Mada tried to get into the driver’s seat after the crash.
Police decided to file charges against Ms. Mada after consulting with the Allegheny County District Attorney’s office.
