Former Steelers running back Baron Batch on Friday entered a court program for nonviolent first-time offenders stemming from charges he tagged more than three dozen locations in Pittsburgh and Baldwin Borough with graffiti.
Mr. Batch, 29, of Homestead entered the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program before Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Edward J. Borkowski. The program allows offenders to clear their record after serving probation.
Pittsburgh and Baldwin Borough police charged Mr. Batch in June in after investigators said he sprayed graffiti along parts of the Three Rivers Heritage Trail in both municipalities. Investigators recognized that some of the graffiti resembled artwork at Mr. Batch’s workshop in Homestead.
Mr. Batch admitted to painting some of the tags along the trail, police said.
He will serve 18 months probation and 150 hours of community service to be served within the first six months.
An attorney representing Mr. Batch could not be reached.
