Vulture returns to National Aviary

The hooded vulture that flew away from the National Aviary Thursday returned home Saturday afternoon.

The vulture, Kiume voluntarily flew to his trainers around 12:30 p.m. Saturday and is secure back at the aviary, aviary spokeswoman Robin Weber said.

The vulture flew away during an open-air show on Thursday afternoon. He had a tracking device, and officials tried to recapture him on Thursday and Friday, but were unsuccessful.
