Pittsburgh police are investigating a homeless man's body found on a Strip District riverfront trail Thursday morning as a suspicious death.
City public safety spokeswoman Emily Schaffer said a passer-by discovered the man, identified later Thursday as Matthew Stutzman, 27, not breathing and lying on the concrete path parallel to Smallman Street between the 16th Street Bridge and the Veterans Bridge.
Homicide detectives and forensic investigators were investigating. River Rescue personnel combed the shoreline looking for evidence, Ms. Schaffer said.
An autopsy was performed at the county Medical Examiner’s office, but the cause and manner of death were pending.
