Diner en Blanc participants celebrate inside Highmark Stadium

#Whiteout: The secret is out. Highmark Stadium in Station Square was the venue for this year’s Diner en Blanc Friday night. It was a festive gathering of people who enjoy good food, good company and style and are willing to follow a very strict dress code. Wearing head-to-toe white is required of all invited guests and getting an invitation is the only way to attend a dinner en blanc. These gatherings happen all over the world and are simply pop-up dinner parties with the only agenda being to have fun.

#WhiteNow: “It’s like the best party you have ever been to with dancing, entertainment, food and friends,” said Lorraine DiNatale. She hosted the event with Trisha Daniel and Krystal Vangura. No one was told where to bring their white tables, picnic baskets filled with food and centerpieces until 30 minutes before the dinner began. Once it was announced 800 guests in white began to converge on the stadium where group leaders helped them line up their tables. Violinist Steven Vance played as they set up. Finally, everyone waved white napkins to signal the start of dining. DJ Nugget had everyone dancing after dinner before it was time to fold it all up and retreat into the September night as if the event never happened. “This is my third year and I just love it,” said Berny Zoric with her husband Eric. Among those feeling quite white were group leaders Andrew Ford, Andrea Gionta, Jenny Ashburn, Kelly Barron and Paul Gitnik with Gene Svrcek. Joining them were Vivien Li, Lois Wholey, Beth and Jeff Fallon, Loruchama Ostin, Rebecca Brown, Marrina Weimer, Brian Ashbaugh, Lori and Jamie Shearer, Eric and Tamara Sanders-Woods, Toya and Darryl Creed and Linda Bergen.
