Tonight after service, the sign at Grit & Grace on Liberty Avenue will be swapped for a new one that reads “G & G Noodle Bar.”
The change is part of a rebranding of the restaurant from S + P Restaurant Group and chef Brian Pekarcik, which includes Spoon in East Liberty, BRGR in multiple locations and Willow in Ohio Township.
“Since opening Grit & Grace we felt there was a need for approachable Asian-style street food,” co-owner Rick Stern said. ”Our noodle bowls have continued to be best sellers, so it made sense to give our guests more of what they want, especially during these chilly winter months.”
Grit & Grace opened at 535 Liberty Ave., Downtown in 2014, part of the neighborhood’s renaissance that includes dynamic offerings in the Cultural District, the revival of Market Square, more options for Downtown housing and a flurry of new restaurants.
The change, effective Tuesday, is the second significant restaurant rebranding in the past few months; the first was Verde’s transformation to Prairie in Garfield in the fall.
Mr. Pekarcik is the executive chef through the transition, steering a more casual menu at G & G Noodle Bar than the one at Grit & Grace, with options like big eye tuna sushi and addictive snacks like General Tso’s cauliflower for dim sum. For mains, look for noodles like tsukemen-style ramen ($15) and spicy dan dan noodles garnished with a poached egg ($13), along with dishes such as crispy Sichuan chicken over noodles ($14) and bulgogi lettuce wraps with flank steak ($10).
Among other changes expect dinner-only service until the warmer months and a changing roster of DJs Thursday through Saturday from 9 to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday brunch will remain.
