Nordstrom Rack opens at The Block Northway

Nordstrom Rack opened its doors at The Block Northway off McKnight Road on Friday morning.

The store is the off-price division of Seattle-based Nordstrom, which offers clearance merchandise from Nordstrom as well as items selected specifically for Rack stores, according to the company.

Nordstrom Rack operates 194 stores in 38 states. Friday’s opening makes five locations in Pennsylvania for the chain.

Off-price stores have been a healthy sector in retail, which has been seeking ways to adapt to changing consumer habits and the popularity of online shopping. Macy’s is launching its version of an outlet store with its new Macy’s Backstage concept at Monroeville Mall — the first for the Pittsburgh region.

Shoppers flock to the new Nordstrom Rack store during its grand opening in late August.
