For March and April 2019, you can turn back time on the concert scene. Among the big names are Alabama (PPG Paints Arena), Mariah Carey (Benedum Center), KISS (PPG) and Cher, who will sashay into the arena on April 18. A good bet for fans is the gift card route. “Dear Evan Hansen, the Tony-winning musical about a troubled teen and the power of social media, is now a hardcover novel by Val Emmich (Little Brown Books for Young Readers). It’s $12.49 at barnesandnoble.com. The national tour, starring Carnegie Mellon alum Ben Levi Ross, is headed to Heinz Hall as part of the PNC Broadway in Pittsburgh series May 21-26. Know someone who loves a good game show? In the musical “Game On,” three contestants vie to win a record-setting $10 million jackpot. If you loved Richard Thomas as John-Boy Walton or one of his other stage and screen roles, see him live as Ebenezer Scrooge in Pittsburgh CLO’s “A Musical Christmas Carol,” now in its 27th year.
