Pittsburgh CLO's 2018 season kicks off with 'On Your Feet!'

Pittsburgh CLO’s summer of 2018 will open with the regional premiere of “On Your Feet!” the Emilio and Gloria Estefan musical that is still dancing up a storm on Broadway.

The national tour begins in September and will conga its way to Downtown’s Benedum Center next June. Pittsburgh CLO is a producer of the show that opened in November 2015 and chronicles the Cuban-born Estefans’ rise to fame in the music business.

Pittsburgh CLO ventures into new territory with its first production of the Tony Award-winning musical “Titanic” and gets racy with “The Full Monty,” which it first presented in 2007.

An intriguing return to CLO’s schedule is “Brigadoon,” which the company now will have presented in each of its seven decades, starting in 1950. Before Pittsburgh CLO returns to the Scottish moors, “Brigadoon” will have another revival — the early Lerner & Lowe show will be presented in a New York City Center concert production in November, starring Patrick Wilson and Kelli O’Hara and with familiar names from “An American in Paris,” including director-choreographer Christopher Wheeldon.

Pittsburgh CLO 2018 Summer Season

June 12-17, 2018: “On Your Feet!” — The musical’s creative team includes two-time Tony Award-winning director Jerry Mitchell (“Kinky Boots”), with choreography by Sergio Trujillo (“Jersey Boys”) and an original book by Oscar winner Alexander Dinelaris (“Birdman”).

June 22-July 1, 2018: “Titanic” — From launch to the final hour of April 14, 1912, when the Titanic sunk on its maiden voyage. The score’s by Maury Yeston and book by Peter Stone, both among the show’s five Tony wins.

July 6-15, 2018: “The Full Monty” — Six unemployed steelworkers from Buffalo decide to go in the buff to pay their bills. Based on the Oscar-nominated film, the musical was nominated for 10 Tony Awards.

July 17-22, 2018: “Brigadoon” — In this magical musical, two New Yorkers on vacation in the Scottish Highlands stumble on a mythical village, where they find romance in what seems like an impossible situation. Songs include “Almost Like Being in Love.”

July 27-Aug. 5, 2018: “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast” — The most requested musical in Pittsburgh CLO’s audience surveys was back on the big screen in March, but on stage, it has played to more than 35 million people in 13 countries.

Aug. 7-12, 2018: “Thoroughly Modern Millie” — Based on the 1967 film, “Millie” is a time capsule of the Jazz Age, about a young woman who goes to New York and encounters flappers and a white slavery ring.

All shows will be at the Benedum, Downtown. Season-ticket packages start at $60; Premium Series packages are $118-$383; pittsburghclo.org or 412-281-2822.
