Theater notes: Taking stock of summer theater

Summer outside the city is a time for many local theaters to turn up the heat on options for your vacation days. Here's a look at what's happening in places other than the Pittsburgh Cultural District this week, plus a peek into the not-too-distant future.

• Little Lake Theatre, now under the guidance of Roxy MtJoy after the retirement of Sunny Disney Fitchett, presents the local premiere of Nora Ephron’s “Lucky Guy,” a real-life story that attracted Tom Hanks to make his Broadway debut in 2013.

The play chronicles the fall and rise of the late New York Daily News columnist Mike McAlary. The writer known for his crime and corruption stories became a Pulitzer Prize winner after a libel suit nearly ended his career.
