City Theatre's Momentum 2012 festival opens

City Theatre's Momentum 2012 festival of new plays at different stages gets off to a tuneful start with "My Mother Has Four Noses," a musical play written and performed by Jonatha Brooke, and "The Shadow Sparrow," a musical by Anton Dudley, Keith Gordon and Charlie Sohne.

Also on the Momentum menu are "A Swell in the Ground" by Janine Nabers and "Ten Questions to Ask Your Biology Teacher About Evolution" by Stephen Massicotte, whose "The Clockmaker" and "Mary's Wedding" have had successful City productions.

The Momentum schedule:

Today: 8 p.m., "My Mother Has Four Noses." Tomorrow: 6:30 p.m. Playwrights Panel; 8 p.m., "The Shadow Sparrow." Saturday: noon, songwriting workshop with Jonatha Brooke, 3 p.m., "My Mother Has Four Noses"; 5:30 p.m., "Ten Questions to Ask Your Biology Teacher About Evolution"; 8 p.m., "A Swell in the Ground." Sunday: noon, panel with City's Tracy Brigden and Carlyn Aquiline; 2 p.m., "The Shadow Sparrow."

Tickets are $20 for four-day pass and $5 per show at 412-431-2489 or citytheatrecompany.org.
