PSO conductor named international Artist of the Year

Manfred Honeck, music director of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, has been selected as Artist of the Year by the International Classical Music Awards. Mr. Honeck is the first conductor to win the title since Esa-Pekka Salonen was named Artist of the Year in 2011, the ICMA’s inaugural year.

Mr. Honeck is in his 10th season leading the PSO. His work with the orchestra has also been nominated for a Grammy award this year in the Best Orchestral Performance category for the Shostakovich 5/Barber Adagio recording the orchestra released last year.
