Cartoonist, humorist, cultural critic and No. 2 pencil aficionado David Rees is in Pittsburgh today, and he wants to meet you.
Mr. Rees kicked off a 13-day, cross-country tour Sunday, driving with his producer from New York City to promote his dryly funny series “Going Deep With David Rees.” It debuts on the Esquire Network Nov. 11, featuring a menu of how-to’s the average person has likely never considered at length.
How to pet a dog. How to make toast. How to take a punch. Mr. Rees is more than happy to elaborate. Since most of these actions are older than old school, he has chosen to advertise the series in a non-social media way. He wants to eschew Twitter and Facebook (“I’m too old to be messing around with Facebook likes” he says in a YouTube video), and slap up a stack of fliers in schools, church basements, grocery stores — anywhere he won’t be charged with littering.
His schedule here isn’t set, but he will be in Market Square around noon. For more information, and to print out your own fliers, go to rollingdeep2015.com.
