The Steelers have re-signed cornerback James Pierre to a one-year contract, bolstering their depth in their secondary and special teams.
Pierre has been with the Steelers since he signed as an undrafted free agent in the summer of 2020. He has eight career starts at cornerback, including two last season, but he’s made his mark mostly as a cover specialist.
The Steelers now have six corners under contract. They previously singed Darius Slay Jr. and Brandin Echols in free agency. Joey Porter Jr., Cory Trice Jr. and Beanie Bishop were already under contract.
The Steelers also signed defensive lineman Esezi Otomewo, who played previously with Minnesota and Jacksonville. Otomewo played in four games with the Jaguars last season and started two.
