Report: Bears request to interview Steelers' Omar Khan for GM job

If Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert does indeed intend to retire in the offseason, the team might have to start updating its successor list.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Wednesday that the Chicago Bears requested permission to interview Omar Khan, the Steelers’ vice president of football and business administration, for their open GM position.

Khan, who is well-known throughout NFL circles for being smart with the salary cap, also interviewed for several openings last offseason before sticking in Pittsburgh. And it should be noted that the Bears also reportedly requested to interview the Patriots’ Eliot Wolf on Wednesday.

Colbert has reportedly discussed retiring after the NFL draft this offseason, though sources have told the Post-Gazette that no decision is final.
