James Conner gets weekly radio show with 93.7 The Fan

James Conner is getting a regular spot on the local airways.

The Steelers running back will join 93.7 The Fan’s “PM Team” of Chris Mueller and Andrew Fillipponi for a weekly show that will air at 5 p.m. Mondays, beginning Sept. 9, the day after the Steelers’ season opener at New England. The station announced the plans in a news release Thursday.

“We are excited to welcome James to the 93.7 The Fan family this season," Michael Spacciapolli, senior vice president and market manager for Entercom Pittsburgh, said in the release. "James is one of the most beloved personalities in the region and we know he will bring unique insight and inspiration to the show."

Conner made his first Pro Bowl appearance last season after rushing for 973 yards and 12 touchdowns in place of Le’Veon Bell amid the latter’s contract dispute with the team. That performance only added to the stellar reputation he enjoyed after a standout career at Pitt.

"I'm thrilled to be able to connect with Steeler nation through 93.7 The Fan every week and share with listeners insights that they won't hear anywhere else," Conner said in the release.

Meanwhile, it remains unclear whether Conner’s quarterback will continue his own program.

Mark Madden, host of an eponymous show on 105.9 The X, tweeted earlier in the week that Ben Roethlisberger’s show with The Fan will be discontinued. The show was a point of controversy at times last season because of Roethlisberger’s comments about teammates, including Antonio Brown.

Neither The Fan nor Roethlisberger has made any official announcements.
