Heinz wants to see Kansas City's Patrick Mahomes throw a bunch of touchdowns

Patrick Mahomes likes ketchup on his steak. It’s an unfortunate habit he’s been getting a lot of grief for on social media since ESPN’s Seth Wickersham exposed it in a profile of the breakout Kansas City quarterback published Wednesday.

Whatever. Who cares? Well, apparently the namesake of the Steelers’ stadium and local arm of a hulking food conglomerate that manufactures a popular brand of the condiment.

The Steelers would probably prefer Mahomes not throw that many touchdowns as they duel with the Chiefs for the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs.

Kansas City is 9-1 with a win in Pittsburgh in its pocket. The Steelers are 6-2-1, good for the second seed and first-round bye. They need more Chiefs losses to move up and earn the right to play a potential AFC championship showdown with their foes from the AFC West at home, a place called Heinz Field.

Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles celebrates with Chad Henne after a touchdown against the Steelers in the fourth quarter of an AFC divisional round playoff game in January at Heinz Field.

The Steelers used to struggle defending mobile QBs. Recently, that's not the case.

Mahomes has 31 touchdowns this season — with six of those coming against the Steelers — meaning he’d need to throw an average of 4.3 touchdowns in Kansas City’s final six games to lock up a life supply of ketchup.

Needless to say, such a pace probably wouldn’t be conducive to the Steelers making up ground. Whose side are you on here, ketchup people?
