Antonio Brown makes his case: 'I’ve got the courage to withstand whatever someone says'

Steelers receiver Antonio Brown apologized to a reporter for The Undefeated earlier this week for threatening him on Twitter, but he had some things to say about the story that got him upset.

“People are always going to incarcerate you for how they understand you to be,” Brown said after practice Friday. “Anytime you’re stepping into the light of divinity and your purpose of what God got you to be, there will always be a hater, a naysayer or a doubter and someone pulling you back from you they think you should be. I have the courage. I’m an exceptional-ism. I’m not an ordinary guy. This is part of the process about him. I’ve got the courage to withstand whatever someone says, but there is no code of conduct. There’s no respect. If someone takes a jab at me personally, calling ex-girlfriends and people from the past. … That’s like me calling your ex-girlfriend. What do you think they’re going to say?

“I’m an exceptionalist. There’s no ego in regards to it. I’m a guy who goes beyond the rules. If you guys want to write something, write about me on tour, going to high schools, spending time with kids, training. Write about me donating $100,000 to Children’s Hospital. Write about the good things. Write about me being a sixth-round guy who comes out here and outworks everyone every day. I’m an exceptional-ism. I’m not a basic guy. I’m not a regular guy. I’m a guy who goes above and beyond the rules. Anytime you’re stepping into your divinity, the purpose of what God got me here to do, there will always be naysayers and doubters. I’m not bound to where I’m from or where I come from. I am who I am. That’s pretty much what it is.”
