Just as the Steelers were getting some players healthy and back into their lineup, they must deal with another injury to their kicker.
The Steelers signed an emergency kicker Saturday shortly after declaring Chris Boswell as questionable with an abdominal injury for a game today against the New York Giants.
Randy Bullock, drafted by the Houston Texans in the fifth round in 2012, likely will kick against the Giants. Coincidently, he kicked for the Giants in the first week of this season after spending three years kicking for Houston and a portion of 2015 with the Jets. The Giants had signed him to kick for one game during the NFL suspension of kicker Josh Brown. The Steelers signed Boswell Oct. 3, 2015 after veteran Shaun Suisham sustained a career-ending ACL injury in the first preseason game of 2015. Two more kickers came and went before the Steelers settled on Boswell.
To make room for Bullock (who will wear No. 2) on the 53-man roster, the Steelers released cornerback Al-Hajj Shabazz.
