Alvaro Folgueiras’ big day wasn’t enough, as Robert Morris fell 82-77 to Purdue Fort Wayne in conference play on Sunday afternoon at Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Folgueiras, a 6-foot-9 sophomore forward from Malaga, Spain, had one of his best games of the season, tying for the game high with 23 points. It was an efficient performance, too, as he made 8 of his 11 field goal attempts, including 4 of 5 from beyond the arc. Folgueiras also ripped down 12 rebounds.
Kam Woods chipped in 19 points for the Colonials (6-5, 0-2 Horizon League), and Ryan Prather Jr. added 14 points off the bench. Amarion Dickerson also finished with a double-double for Robert Morris, with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Junior guard Jalen Jackson paced the Mastodons (6-4, 1-1 Horizon League) with 23 points of his own, making 11 of 12 free throw attempts. Corey Hadnot II (13 points), Rasheed Bello (12 points), Eric Mulder (10 points) and Maximus Nelson (10 points) also finished in double figures for Purdue Fort Wayne.
The free throws told the story in this one, as the Mastodons made 26 of 30 total attempts compared to a 10 for 13 clip from Robert Morris.
Robert Morris returns to the court Tuesday when it hosts Towson (4-6) of the Colonial Athletic Association. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at UPMC Events Center, and ESPN+ will stream the game.
