Robert Morris rattled off three first-quarter touchdowns and held on the rest of the way to finish its season with a 31-13 victory against visiting Stonehill on Saturday at Joe Walton Stadium.
Zach Tanner, who started at quarterback in place of senior Anthony Chiccitt, came out on fire for the Colonials (7-5, 4-2 Northeast Conference). Tanner found Shawn Charles for two long touchdowns, one from 86 yards and one from 51 yards, in the opening stanza. DJ Moyer also scored on a 1-yard plunge to give Robert Morris a 21-0 lead it wouldn’t relinquish.
Robert Morris put points on the board twice in the second half, on a 25-yard field goal from Jayson Jenkins and a fumble recovery in the end zone by freshman defensive lineman Turner Schmidt.
Stonehill’s (1-10, 0-6) only touchdown of the game came on a touchdown catch by senior wide receiver Jake Newsham.
