Penn State’s four-game losing streak hit a nadir Saturday afternoon with a 76-67 loss to Bucknell of the Patriot League on Saturday at the Bryce Jordan Center in University Park, Pa. The Bison entered the game 2-7, which included losses of 21 points to Delaware, 19 to Penn and 24 to Marist.
The Nittany Lions (4-4) didn’t have an answer for the Bison’s offensive firepower. Bucknell shot 29 of 50 (58%) from the field and 10 of 21 (47.6%) from 3-point range. Penn State only cashed in on 4 of its 19 tries from distance, good for a 21.1% clip.
Qudus Wahab led the way for Penn State with 18 points on 7 of 8 shooting with eight rebounds. VCU transfer Ace Baldwin Jr. added 17 points off the bench. Zach Hicks made 3 of his 5 3-point attempts for the Nittany Lions; the rest of the team went 1 for 14 from deep.
Senior guard Jack Forrest paced the Bison with 23 points on 8 for 14 shooting, including 5 for 7 from beyond the arc. Bucknell’s Latvian center, Noah Williamson, added 21 points on an efficient 9 of 13 shooting.
Penn State will try to get back on track at 7 p.m. Wednesday when it takes on Maryland (4-4) in its Big Ten opener. The game will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
