The Pirates and left-hander Jeff Locke agreed today on a $3.025 million salary for 2016, according to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal, thereby avoiding arbitration.
Reached by phone this evening, Locke said he could not comment on the report.
Locke, who was projected by MLBTradeRumors.com to make $3.5 million, was 8-11 with a 4.49 ERA in 30 starts last season. The 28-year-old currently is penciled in as a back-end starter for the Pirates, joining Gerrit Cole, Francisco Liriano, Jon Niese and Ryan Vogelsong in the rotation.
