Pirates claim Sutton, Morris in roster moves

Pirates claim Sutton, Morris in roster moves

The Pirates claimed Sunday off waivers Drew Sutton, a player they traded for and then traded away the following day.

They also recalled right-hander Bryan Morris from Class AAA Indianapolis to ease the strain on a short-handed bullpen. To make room, they optioned Jordy Mercer to Class AAA Indianapolis.

The Pirates moved Charlie Morton to the 60-day disabled list to make room on the 40-man roster for Sutton. They will make a corresponding move on the active roster when he joins the club.
