DENVER -- The Pirates' Ross Ohlendorf was struck in the right side of the head by a line drive from Colorado's Troy Tulowitzki in the first inning of tonight's game at Coors Field.
Ohlendorf exited immediately, though he was not felled and never appeared to lose his alertness. He was tended by athletic trainer Brad Henderson and manager John Russell, who ushered him off the field.
The ball was struck with enough force that the carom off Ohlendorf ended up landing in shallow right field.
Ohlendorf is the second Pirates pitcher struck in the head by a line drive. Chris Jakubauskas was hit April 24 in Houston, was felled for several minutes and needed two months to recover from a concussion.
