Penguins winger Scott Wilson takes hit to head from Senators' Tommy Wingels

Winger Scott Wilson preceded his teammates into the dressing room after taking a shot to the head from Ottawa’s Tommy Wingels in the final moments of a 7-0 win in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference final Sunday at PPG Paints Arena.

Wingels delivered what appeared to be an elbow to Wilson’s face. Take a look.

Wilson was shaken up before heading off to the dressing room without celebrating with his teammates as the horn sounded at the end of the game. Coach Mike Sullivan did not have an update on Wilson’s status after the game.

For his part, Wingels was not penalized, although the NHL is likely to take a second look at the hit and could discipline him after the fact. NBC Sports Network analysts Keith Jones and Mike Milbury were split when asked about the hit during the post-game show. Jones believes Wingels should be suspended for Game 6 Tuesday in Ottawa while Milbury believed it was simply a missed penalty that should have been called.

Penguins teammates, including Carter Rowney (37), celebrate after Bryan Rust scores against the Senators in the first period of Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals Sunday at PPG Paints Arena.
