Penguins recall center Oskar Sundqvist from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton

The Penguins recalled center Oskar Sundqvist from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League.

Sundqvist, 21, has appeared in 39 AHL games this season and has scored 16 points (five goals, 11 assists). A native of Sweden, Sundqvist is in his first full professional season in North America.

The Penguins drafted Sundqvist in the third round of the 2012 draft. With centers Evgeni Malkin and Eric Fehr each sidelined due to undisclosed injuries, Sundqvist is expected to make his NHL debut in Friday's road game against the Lightning.

To make room for Sundqvist on the active roster, the Penguins placed Fehr on injured reserve.

The expected absence of Eric Fehr will challenge the Penguins on the penalty-kill.
