Penguins' full 2015-16 schedule released

The Penguins will open the 2015-16 season on the road against the Dallas Stars on Thursday, Oct. 8, head to Arizona on Oct. 10, then open a five-game homestand on Oct. 13 against the Montreal Canadiens, according to the schedule released this morning by the NHL.

That opening homestand will be a season-long stretch at Consol Energy Center and includes games against Ottawa, Toronto and Florida before concluding against Dallas on Oct. 22.

Highlights include 30 games against Metropolitan Division opponents, including five against the Washington Capitals and Carolina Hurricanes, a visit from the Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks on Jan. 5, and a first visit to the new home of the New York Islanders in Brooklyn on March 8.

The Penguins, who went 43-27-12 in 2014-15 and lost in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs to the New York Rangers, close next year’s schedule on the road against the rival Flyers on April 9.
