Seton Hill softball advances in Division II playoffs with win against Adelphi

The Seton Hill Griffins (42-11) advanced with a 8-1 win against the No. 1-seeded Adelphi Panthers in the losers’ bracket of the Division II tournament in Denver.

Jenna Osikowicz doubled to center field driving in Nichole McClendon and Nina Grandey to put Seton Hill up, 2-0.

Osikowicz advanced to third on the throw to home.

Morgan Ryan than doubled to left-center field to make the score 3-0.

The Griffins added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth to stretch their lead to 6-1, using several singles and a double steal to keep the line moving for Seton Hill.

Seton Hill put the game away with two more runs in the bottom of the sixth, sparked by stolen bases and another Panthers error.

Ryan also pitched a strong game against Adelphi, going the complete seven innings, giving up just eight hits with five strikeouts and no walks.

Adelphi head coach Carla Campagna and assistant coach Lou Vanacore led Adelphi to a program-best 47 wins this season.
