Saint Francis gets a chance in NCAA tournament First Four

Alabama State and Saint Francis will play in the NCAA tournament’s First Four at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday in Dayton, Ohio, with TruTV covering the broadcast. The winner will play No. 1 overall seed Auburn in the first round.

The Hornets are 15-6 against SWAC opponents and 4-9 in non-conference play. Alabama State ranks ninth in the SWAC with 11.8 assists per game led by Antonio Madlock averaging 2.6.

The Red Flash's record in NEC games is 11-8. Saint Francis is 6-6 when it has fewer turnovers than its opponents and averages 12.2 turnovers per game.

Alabama State scores 73.4 points per game, 1.8 more points than the 71.6 Saint Francis gives up. Saint Francis has shot at a 46.1% rate from the field this season, 2.6 percentage points higher than the 43.5% shooting opponents of Alabama State have averaged.
