Highlights: Schenley girls bag lead in City soccer

In a showdown for first place in City League girls' soccer, Sami Gregory led Schenley to its seventh consecutive victory, 1-0, against Allderdice last night at Cupples Stadium.

Gregory scored midway through the second half for the Spartans (11-2, 7-0), who have beaten the Dragons (5-4, 5-2) three consecutive times, dating to the title game last season.

• Colleen Carlos and Kelly Mageras scored to lead WPIAL Class AAA No. 4 Mt. Lebanon (13-1, 9-1) to a 2-0 win against Canon-McMillan (8-5-1, 6-3) in Section 5.

• Visiting Mars upset Class AAA No. 10 North Allegheny (11-3, 8-3), 3-1, in Section 2. Alana Haefner, Lexie Mastro and Sarah Heckman scored for the Planets (8-4-2, 6-4-1).

Unlikely playoff clinchings

• In the first season of the program, St. Joseph is heading to the WPIAL Class AA playoffs. Katie Hayes' goal led the Spartans (8-6, 6-4) to a 1-0 Section 6 victory at Geibel (4-11, 3-6).

• A season after going 2-15-1, Serra clinched a playoff berth with a 5-0 Class AA Section 4 victory against visiting Carlynton (1-11, 1-8). Freshman Torie Fedora had three goals for the Eagles.

WPIAL boys' golf semifinals

• Jim Davis of North Allegheny shot a 3-over 75 to head a list of 12 qualifiers for the WPIAL championship at Seven Oaks Country Club in Beaver. The WPIAL championship is Tuesday at Diamond Run Golf Club in Sewickley.

• Fox Chapel's Sam Brourman's 3-over 73 was the best score of 12 WPIAL championship qualifiers in a semifinal at Highland Country Club in West View.

City League girls' tennis semis

Allderdice and Perry advanced to the City League championship match with 5-0 victories in the semifinals. The Dragons beat Brashear, and the Commodores defeated Schenley. The teams will meet at 3 p.m. today at the Pittsburgh Indoor Tennis Club in East Liberty.
