WPIAL baseball playoff clinchings through May 2

Seven sections still have playoff spots yet to be decided

Heading into the final seven days of the WPIAL baseball season, 69 teams have clinched playoff berths, but 18 teams are still alive for a postseason spot.

All section games must be completed by Thursday and the WPIAL will announce playoff pairings and seedings next Friday. The top four teams in each section qualify for the postseason. If there is a tie for a playoff spot, head-to-head competition breaks the deadlock. If tied teams split in head-to-head, both teams enter the playoffs.

Seven sections still have playoff spots open, including all three sections in Class 2A. Other sections with playoff spots still open are Class 3A Section 3 and 4, and Class 1A Section 2 and 3.
